Why “Samson’s Riddle”?
Samson was one who put a riddle before pagans in Judges 14:14.
“Out of the eater came something to eat.
Out of the strong came something sweet.”
Later, we find out what the riddle means, and ironically enough, it comes in the form of a question in Judges 14:18:
“What is sweeter than honey?
What is stronger than a lion?”
We know that this is physically what Samson ran across earlier in Judges 14:8-9, but looking at the question, I believe this also points to none other than Jesus Christ Himself.
He is sweeter than anything, yet stronger than all of His creation.
In short, “Samson’s Riddle” is “Jesus Christ”.
