Unto a child is born…

…unto us a Son is given (comes from Isaiah 9:6):

6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Notice the phrasing that the Word uses:  “a child is born”, “a son is given”.  What’s amazing this Christmas Eve is that the son being given is given from before the beginning of time.  The phrasing is not, “unto us a son is born”….rather “a son is GIVEN”.

I submit that this reflects not only Jesus’ humanity (a child is born), but yet His divinity: (a son is GIVEN).  Reflecting on this duality in the God-man makes for some worshipful meditation indeed.

Make this Christmas be one that is worshipful, reverent, and glorifiying to our God.
